Senior Software Developer in Test, Quality Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance MaintainX's unified quality platform, test automation frameworks, and developer tools.

• Create and implement AI-assisted test authoring systems to decrease test creation time while ensuring high standards of quality.

• Take ownership of CI integration standards and enhance build reliability across engineering teams.

• Design test harnesses for AI-driven product functionalities, encompassing health checks, graceful degradation, quota monitoring, and adversarial testing.

• Detect and rectify systemic test debt and flaky tests to prevent their impact on engineering teams.

• Construct shared testing utilities and frameworks that are utilized throughout the engineering organization.

• Collaborate with Quality Advocates, product engineering teams, and SRE to enhance testing strategies and platform reliability.

• Assess new AI testing tools and promote their adoption when they yield significant engineering benefits.

• Lead platform engineering managers across multiple teams, communicate technical priorities to executive stakeholders, and coordinate with engineering leaders outside Québec on a daily basis.

• Support MaintainX's mission to assist industrial and frontline teams in keeping the physical world operational through its mobile-first work execution platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience in developing and maintaining production-grade test automation frameworks utilizing Playwright, Selenium, or comparable technologies.

• Solid software engineering principles with a background in writing, debugging, and maintaining production application code.

• Experience in integrating automated testing within CI/CD pipelines and troubleshooting flaky or failing test suites.

• Background in building or supporting shared developer tools, testing infrastructure, or engineering platforms.

• Familiarity with AI development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar.

• Comfortable managing systems comprehensively, from architecture and implementation to production support.

• Experience in mentoring engineers and enhancing engineering quality across teams.

• Proficient in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory.

• Nice to have: experience in creating test harnesses for AI-enabled features, including health checks, circuit-breakers, adversarial testing, or resilience testing.

• Nice to have: experience in developing or maintaining autonomous or agentic AI systems.

• Nice to have: experience in evaluating AI-driven developer tools and integrating them into engineering workflows.

• Nice to have: experience in incorporating observability and quality metrics into testing platforms.

• Nice to have: experience in working with large-scale developer platforms that support multiple engineering teams.
