Senior Software Developer, DevOps

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, enhance, and refine Jenkins shared libraries, Jenkinsfiles, and CI/CD pipelines utilizing Groovy.

• Evaluate and optimize workflows for building, testing, releasing, and deploying applications.

• Develop reusable pipeline components and establish standardized delivery patterns.

• Implement source control, code review, automated testing, documentation, and practices that ensure maintainability.

• Enhance build performance through optimized pipeline architecture, parallelization, caching, dependency management, and artifact handling.

• Fortify deployments with automated testing, quality gates, validation, health checks, environment promotion, and rollback functionalities.

• Collaborate with development and QA teams to enhance application building, testing, packaging, versioning, and deployment processes.

• Modernize CI/CD methodologies and utilize delivery metrics to identify bottlenecks and track improvements.

• Drive technical advancements in engineering tools and practices while supporting platform engineering and developer self-service initiatives.

• Construct and manage secure, scalable AWS infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code, primarily using CloudFormation.

• Assist with Docker and AWS ECS/Fargate deployments.

• Create code, scripts, tools, APIs, and reusable components aimed at automating engineering and operational workflows.

• Diagnose issues with application code, builds, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, networking, and configurations.

• Utilize Splunk, New Relic, and AWS CloudWatch for deployment validation and troubleshooting purposes.

• Enhance monitoring, alerting, rollback processes, and post-deployment validation techniques.

• Engage in incident response and conduct root cause analyses.

• Lead CI/CD and DevOps enhancements across engineering teams.

• Collaborate with Software Engineering, QA, SRE, Security, and Architecture teams.

• Offer technical expertise and assist teams in adopting CI/CD, DevOps, cloud, and software delivery practices.

• Establish standards, documentation, reusable examples, and operational runbooks.

• Take accountability for intricate technical challenges through investigation, implementation, and validation.

• Participate in a monthly rotating on-call schedule; occasional after-hours work may be necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD engineering, software engineering, platform engineering, or cloud engineering.

• Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to independently tackle complex technical challenges.

• Extensive experience with Jenkins, Groovy, and CI/CD engineering, including Jenkins files, shared libraries, reusable pipeline components, build agents, and troubleshooting pipelines.

• Strong background in software delivery engineering, encompassing build systems, automated testing, artifact management, versioning, deployment, validation, rollback, and enhancing delivery speed and reliability.

• Solid experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code, particularly with CloudFormation or Terraform.

• Familiarity with containers and cloud-native deployments, including Docker and platforms like AWS ECS/Fargate.

• Proficient in Git/GitHub and troubleshooting across application code, builds, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, networking, configurations, and deployment environments.
