Senior Software Automation Engineer – UI/API

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, create, and sustain scalable UI and API automation frameworks.

• Develop automated testing suites utilizing Playwright, Python, and PyTest.

• Execute API automation tests for RESTful services.

• Construct reusable test utilities, libraries, and reporting capabilities.

• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or comparable platforms.

• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QE teams to establish quality strategies and determine test coverage.

• Conduct root-cause analysis of failures and lead defect prevention efforts.

• Assist in test execution within AWS-hosted environments.

• Verify application functionality, integrations, and end-to-end workflows.

• Engage in requirements reviews, design discussions, and sprint activities.

• Enhance automation reliability, maintainability, and execution efficiency.

• Contribute to quality metrics, reporting, and assessments of release readiness.

• Advocate for quality engineering best practices across teams.

• Deliver automated quality gates, dependable UI and API coverage, quicker feedback cycles, reduced manual validation, and increased release confidence.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in software quality engineering or test automation.

• Strong practical experience with Python.

• Extensive experience with Playwright for UI automation.

• Proficiency in using PyTest and developing automation frameworks.

• Solid understanding of API testing and REST services.

• Familiarity with Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or similar tools.

• Experience in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

• Practical experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or other automation platforms.

• Working knowledge of AWS services and cloud-hosted applications.

• Experience in test reporting and debugging production-quality systems.

• Strong grasp of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to effectively collaborate across engineering, product, and QE teams.

• Preferred experience in healthcare, insurance, or regulated environments.

• Preferred experience in validating distributed systems and microservices architectures.

• Familiarity with contract testing and service virtualization is preferred.

• Exposure to performance or reliability testing is preferred.

• Experience with Docker is preferred.

• Familiarity with Splunk, Datadog, Grafana, or CloudWatch is preferred.

• Experience with test data management and environment management is preferred.

• Knowledge of AI-assisted testing tools and modern QE practices is preferred.

• A bachelor's degree is preferred; specialized training or relevant professional qualifications are also valued.
