Senior Software Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance scalable, resilient, and maintainable event-driven services and messaging platform features.

• Offer technical leadership and architectural direction for distributed systems and event-driven application designs.

• Create production services and platform components utilizing Golang.

• Architect and implement event streaming and messaging solutions with Apache Kafka.

• Establish architectural patterns and engineering standards for producers, consumers, topics, schemas, event contracts, retries, error handling, and message processing.

• Focus on ordering, delivery guarantees, idempotency, backpressure, failure recovery, and scenarios involving distributed-system failures.

• Develop APIs and supporting services employing REST and gRPC.

• Collaborate with application, platform, database, and architecture teams throughout the Finxact platform.

• Design, deploy, and manage containerized services within Kubernetes environments.

• Enhance CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes.

• Evaluate performance, scalability, and reliability of event-driven systems.

• Resolve complex production issues related to event processing, service communication, Kafka, databases, and distributed systems.

• Implement observability practices, including metrics, logging, tracing, lag monitoring, and operational alerting.

• Engage in architecture reviews, technical design sessions, code reviews, and performance evaluations.

• Mentor engineers and offer technical direction.

• Shape technical direction across teams and promote consistency in messaging architecture and engineering practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional software development experience in designing, developing, and supporting production software systems.

• Extensive experience with software architecture, technical design, and technical leadership for intricate distributed systems.

• More than 5 years of Golang development experience in building production applications, services, or platform components.

• Proficient in designing and implementing event-driven architectures.

• Strong production experience with Apache Kafka, covering producers, consumers, topics, partitions, consumer groups, offsets, retention, and delivery semantics.

• Expertise in designing messaging systems that prioritize scalability, resilience, throughput, availability, and failure recovery.

• Solid understanding of distributed-system principles, including concurrency, consistency, idempotency, fault tolerance, backpressure, and asynchronous processing.

• Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and gRPC services.

• Extensive experience with Kubernetes and containerized application architectures, including deployment, scaling, configuration, resilience, and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with integrating applications with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.

• Experience operating applications and distributed services in AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar cloud environments.

• Knowledge in automated testing, integration testing, performance testing, observability, and troubleshooting in production.

• Ability to convert business and product requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in conveying architectural decisions and technical tradeoffs to engineering teams and technology leadership.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience.

• Must currently hold valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization.
