This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Oversee a range of intricate Short Term Disability claims from the initial intake to resolution.

• Make prompt, equitable, and precise decisions grounded in policy guidelines.

• Work in conjunction with clinical and vocational partners to develop return-to-work strategies and assess benefit eligibility.

• Act as a subject matter expert on practices related to Short Term Disability claims.

• Contribute to the development of internal procedures, workflows, and system specifications.

• Utilize disability contract provisions, exclusions, riders, waivers, and regulatory standards.

• Accurately document decisions and interactions, maintaining communication with claimants, employers, and internal stakeholders.

• Guide and assist in the onboarding process of new team members.

• Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Intake/Admin, Clinical and Vocational Services, and other business units.

• Identify process deficiencies and engage in continuous improvement and enterprise initiatives.

• Adjust to shifting priorities, business demands, and regulatory changes.

• Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity at all times.


⛳️ Requirements

• A college degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing Short Term Disability claims.

• Strong comprehension of Short Term Disability claim adjudication and applicable federal/state regulations, including FMLA, ERISA, HIPAA, and ADA.

• Experience collaborating with clinical and vocational professionals to facilitate return-to-work efforts and complex decision-making processes.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Proven problem-solving and analytical capabilities.

• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to juggle competing priorities.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor colleagues and foster a collaborative team atmosphere.

• Proficient in claims administration platforms and workflow/documentation tools.

• Capable of working independently while exercising sound judgment.

• Committed to ongoing learning and improvement.

• Strong time management skills and an ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Experience in supporting cross-functional or enterprise initiatives and change management efforts.
