This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of the architecture for headless Shopify storefronts from the initial discovery phase to launch and ongoing production support.
• Assess whether projects should utilize headless Shopify or develop a well-crafted Online Store 2.0 theme.
• Create custom and public applications utilizing the Admin GraphQL API.
• Develop high-volume data synchronization processes for catalogs, orders, and inventory.
• Design scalable data models for metafields and metaobjects.
• Integrate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Order Management Systems (OMS), Product Information Management (PIM), and payment solutions.
• Ensure synchronization reliability through mechanisms such as retries, idempotency, and reconciliation.
• Evaluate and enhance Core Web Vitals along with storefront performance.
• Conduct technical discovery sessions with clients, covering requirements gathering, solution proposals, estimations, and architectural presentations.
• Establish engineering standards via code reviews, branching strategies, and mentorship for mid-level developers.
• Engage in various interview rounds, including recruiter, technical, and architecture/stakeholder interviews.
• Minimum of 7–14 years of experience at a lead or architect level.
• At least the last three years focused primarily on Shopify.
• Experience with production Shopify Hydrogen storefronts, including Storefront API and live deployments on Oxygen, Vercel, or Cloudflare Workers.
• Current hands-on experience with React JS, including component architecture, hooks, state management, data-loading patterns, and performance optimization.
• Proficiency in TypeScript is expected.
• Familiarity with Remix routing and loaders is a significant advantage.
• Extensive experience with Liquid and Online Store 2.0 architecture, encompassing sections, blocks, JSON templates, metafields, and metaobjects.
• Practical experience in building with Dawn or Horizon themes.
• Experience in creating custom or public Shopify applications via the Admin GraphQL API.
• Knowledge of App Bridge, Polaris, OAuth or managed installations, HMAC-verified and idempotent webhooks, cost-based rate limiting, and bulk operations.
• Experience in integrating headless CMS solutions such as Contentful, Sanity, Contentstack, Strapi, or similar platforms.
• Expertise in content modeling and schema design.
• Proven experience in creating editorial workflows that can be utilized by non-technical content teams.
• Experience in making architectural decisions and advocating for them.
• Client-facing experience with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Additional skills that are beneficial include Shopify Plus, Shopify Functions, Checkout UI Extensions, B2B/Markets, Oxygen, Shopify CLI, Remix, Node.js, GraphQL, CI/CD, Matrixify, WCAG 2.1 AA, Magento or WooCommerce migrations, and a published App Store application.
