Senior Security Engineer, Cryptography

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee cryptographic evaluations of protocols, libraries, and application code.

• Detect design and implementation vulnerabilities, assess exploitability, and propose actionable solutions.

• Examine standardized symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, post-quantum algorithms, zero-knowledge proof systems, and multi-party computation protocols.

• Develop or enhance tools, testing frameworks, and proofs of concept for cryptanalysis and implementation analysis.

• Organize tasks, highlight risks early, facilitate technical discussions, and create detailed client reports.

• Independently manage significant aspects of client projects as a senior individual contributor.

• Engage in scoping, methodology, mentoring, research, tooling opportunities, open-source initiatives, technical publications, and presentations.

• Collaborate with the Cryptography practice, Assurance team, client engineers, researchers, and other relevant parties.

• Direct assessments from the initial threat model to client presentation.

• Assist clients in making informed engineering choices regarding risk and remediation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in evaluating cryptographic primitives, protocols, and implementations.

• Strong mathematical skills to interpret academic papers, analyze security assumptions, and convert research into implementation-level inquiries.

• Proficiency in at least one systems or security-focused programming language such as Rust, Go, C, or C++.

• Familiarity with Git-based development workflows.

• Capability to formulate and test hypotheses, identify discrepancies between specifications and implementations, document evidence, and prioritize findings based on real-world impact.

• Proven track record of independently managing complex technical tasks, navigating ambiguity, making sound decisions, and supporting team members' growth.

• Strong writing skills and confident technical communication with engineers, researchers, and stakeholders.

• Eagerness to learn new systems and work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and the wider technical community.

• Experience in assessing post-quantum, zero-knowledge, threshold, multiparty computation, or privacy-preserving systems is a plus.

• Contributions to published research, open-source projects, public audit reports, conference presentations, or technical writing are advantageous.

• Experience in designing cryptographic APIs, reviewing protocol specifications, or transitioning research implementations to production is beneficial.

• Experience in scoping security projects, mentoring engineers, or developing repeatable assessment methodologies is preferred.

• Must qualify for employment verification through E-Verify for U.S.-based employment.
