Senior Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, refine, and sustain detections within the Panther SIEM for cloud, container, and SaaS log sources.

• Manage the daily operations of the SIEM by onboarding log sources, ensuring detection accuracy, and minimizing false positives.

• Investigate and assess security alerts from raw log data to resolution, while assisting in the execution of incident-response playbooks.

• Oversee AWS cloud security operations by investigating GuardDuty and Wiz findings, enhancing configurations, and addressing cloud misconfigurations.

• Take ownership of and enhance GitHub organization security controls as code.

• Collaborate on network and infrastructure security, encompassing network telemetry, egress monitoring, and backup support.

• Create and expand security-automation tools.

• Document runbooks for consistent detection and response procedures.

• Participate in security design reviews and RFCs, providing security insights on pull requests.

• Assist in vulnerability management through triage and exploitability assessments.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years in security engineering with practical AWS and cloud-native infrastructure experience.

• Proven experience in writing and refining detections within a contemporary SIEM, such as Panther.

• Experience in investigating security alerts from raw logs to a defensible conclusion.

• Capability to design and execute medium-complexity security projects independently.

• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript for automation purposes.

• Familiarity with CloudTrail, VPC Flow Logs, GuardDuty, and AWS Config.

• Understanding of AWS network security principles, including VPC, security groups, and egress controls.

• Experience with Terraform sufficient to collaborate on and support network and infrastructure security efforts.

• Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce actionable runbooks and tickets.

• Proficient in designing maintainable detections and operational tools.

• Demonstrated ownership mindset and capability to follow through on tasks.

• Nice-to-have: experience in startups, incident response, advanced network security, Kubernetes/EKS and container security, and interest in AI/agentic security and automation.
