Senior SDET – India

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Evaluate distributed system APIs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and effective failure management across services related to account creation, data storage, and linked records.

• Implement pre-approved request variations and boundary-validation tests using sanitized tracer payloads on specified staging endpoints.

• Analyze system responses to malformed, malicious, or unexpected inputs and document the results comprehensively.

• Gather complete request/response data, including HTTP status codes, latency, headers, and payload bodies, adhering to approved data-handling protocols.

• Assess near-real-time inline checks and extended background verification/risk pipelines.

• Confirm data persistence, referential integrity, and accurate connections between related records and relationships.

• Conduct controlled replay suites and compare anticipated versus actual API behavior.

• Relate replay outcomes with API schemas and network evidence generated by the Middleware SDET.

• Document observable account/CID lifecycle behavior and ensuing state changes for transition purposes.

• Collect and preserve test logs and evidence in a structured and retrievable manner.

• Collaborate with backend engineering teams to reproduce, isolate, and confirm solutions for distributed system issues.

• Contribute to the backend/middleware reliability testing strategy, incorporating failure-mode and chaos-style testing.

• Ensure traceability between test evidence, defects, and system requirements.

• Align backend observations with frontend FSM and middleware/API evidence from previous workstreams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience of 5-8+ years in testing distributed systems and analyzing inter-service API functionality.

• Practical experience with request payload manipulation, fuzzing, or adversarial API testing methods.

• Knowledge of layered defense architectures, encompassing synchronous/inline validation and asynchronous/background verification processes.

• Acquainted with testing data persistence and relational/hierarchical integrity in backend data stores.

• Proven discipline in test log archival, evidence collection, and structured documentation methodologies.

• Strong understanding of backend/middleware architecture, failure modes, and system boundaries.

• Familiarity with API testing tools and scripting for developing custom fuzzing/tampering test scenarios.

• Exceptional analytical and investigative skills for diagnosing complex, systemic defects.

• Experience with controlled API replay or staging validation is highly preferred.

• Experience linking API responses with observable application/account lifecycle states is preferred.

• Experience in supporting audit, compliance, or evidence-based reporting requirements is an advantage.
