SDET – API/Middleware

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain automated API test suites for gRPC-Web, Proto3, HTTP/2, and JSON-RPC/REST services.

• Export clean and sanitized HAR/network evidence while ensuring traceability between UI actions and network requests.

• Map out schemas, headers, identifiers, routing information, and client-injected parameters.

• Inspect, intercept, and validate client-server network traffic using tools such as Mitmproxy, Charles Proxy, and browser DevTools.

• Create and maintain API automation scripts utilizing Python, Postman, and cURL.

• Analyze protocol-level request/response behaviors for serialization, encoding, and transport defects.

• Inspect and validate request payloads, including authentication tokens, routing identifiers, and hidden parameters.

• Collaborate with backend and middleware engineers to establish testable contracts and address edge-case scenarios.

• Enhance test automation frameworks for improved reliability, speed, and maintainability.

• Document technical findings, automation coverage, and limitations at the protocol level.

• Produce sanitized network evidence and controlled, benign tracer replay scripts for downstream backend validation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience of 3-5+ years with gRPC-Web, Proto3, HTTP/2, and JSON-RPC/REST protocols.

• Proficient with Mitmproxy, Charles Proxy, and browser DevTools.

• Solid scripting and programming skills in Python.

• Practical experience using Postman and cURL for API automation.

• Experience in designing and maintaining automated test suites for middleware or API-layer services.

• Working knowledge of API request structures, headers, authentication tokens, and internal/system parameters.

• Understanding of version control, CI integration, and code review processes.

• Strong debugging skills at the network and protocol level.

• Experience analyzing browser-generated network traffic and reconstructing API behavior is highly preferred.

• Experience with HAR analysis, API schema reconstruction, or controlled API replay is highly preferred.

• Ability to operate within approved staging/test environments and adhere to defined data-handling and test-authorization protocols.
