Senior Java QA Test Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the team’s test automation strategy by establishing technical standards, architecture, and quality governance.

• Design, organize, and enhance modular, reliable, and maintainable automation frameworks.

• Automate both functional and non-functional tests across UI (Frontend) and API (Backend) layers.

• Integrate and sustain automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins / GitHub Actions).

• Foster and advocate for a Shift-Left culture, actively engaging from the refinement and ideation stages alongside Product, Design, and Engineering.

• Create BDD-based test scenarios (Cucumber/Gherkin) that serve as living documentation.

• Execute and evaluate performance and load tests (JMeter / K6), aiding in the identification of bottlenecks.

• Oversee and ensure the code quality of automation projects utilizing tools such as SonarQube.

• Manage test data sets within relational (MySQL) and non-relational (MongoDB) databases.

• Administer test cases and test plans with traceability through Jira and Xray.

• Mentor and assist in the technical growth of Junior- and Mid-level QAs.

• Convert technical risks and bug impacts into clear language for stakeholders and leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong practical experience in software test automation.

• Advanced expertise in Java, with a solid application of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and design patterns.

• Extensive background in automating UI tests using Selenium WebDriver.

• Significant experience in automating APIs with RestAssured.

• Practical experience in creating and architecting automation frameworks from the ground up.

• Familiarity with BDD principles using Cucumber / Gherkin.

• Experience with continuous integration (CI/CD) using Jenkins or GitHub Actions.

• Advanced skills in code version control with Git (GitHub / GitLab).

• Experience in performance and load testing utilizing JMeter or K6.

• Understanding and application of static code analysis using SonarQube.

• Knowledge of working with MySQL and MongoDB databases for creating and validating test data sets.

• Familiarity with handling and validating JSON and YAML formats.

• Experience with the Atlassian ecosystem (Jira, Confluence, and Xray).

• Analytical mindset, exceptional communication skills for collaboration across technical and business teams, and strong technical mentoring capabilities.
