Senior Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee and direct multi-media environmental investigations for both routine and intricate scenarios under federal, state, and international programs.

• Manage and lead projects while strictly adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

• Spearhead the design and execution of environmental investigations, particularly focusing on remedial investigations for contaminated sediments.

• Ensure adherence to regulatory standards as outlined by CERCLA, RCRA, or state programs.

• Lead the design, execution, and supervision of data analyses that support investigation objectives.

• Develop technical deliverables and presentations to effectively communicate findings from investigations.

• Advocate for technical findings and conclusions while negotiating with state and federal regulators.

• Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and emerging challenges.

• Engage in technical conferences or work groups to promote innovative methodologies.

• Implement and maintain quality assurance processes for investigation methodologies and reporting.

• Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely completion within budget constraints.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate investigations into comprehensive environmental impact assessments.

• Mentor and enhance the skills of junior team members.

• Build and maintain client relationships while providing expertise in environmental assessments within the Sediment and Risk Assessment and Remediation service lines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in environmental consulting and site investigation, demonstrating a strong track record of successful project management and outcomes.

• Proven leadership and management abilities, including experience in mentoring and developing team members.

• Extensive knowledge of regulations and guidelines for remedial investigation and risk assessment under both state and federal programs (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA), particularly in Washington and Oregon.

• Demonstrated leadership in the design, planning, and execution of programs throughout the Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study project lifecycle.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills.

• Dedication to fostering a behavior-based safety culture.

• Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, geology, ecology, engineering, environmental science, natural resources, toxicology, or a related discipline.
