Senior Roaming Operations Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Deliver second-line support for Instant Roaming, Open-Connectivity Roaming, SMS Translator, Steering of Roaming, Managed PGW, and associated services.

• Oversee network and service availability alongside quality assurance.

• Conduct both proactive and reactive maintenance tasks.

• Manage incidents and carry out scheduled maintenance activities.

• Engage in new service launches and network deployment projects alongside engineering teams.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Presales, and second-line customer support teams to collect logs and traces, validate routing and data transfer, and uphold service quality.

• Work with vendors to monitor performance and ensure effective service delivery.

• Assist customers globally with roaming-related inquiries and coordinate with mobile operators and Travel SIM providers.

• Utilize knowledge of network architecture, signaling protocols, and interfaces.

• Help train new and existing team members.

• Support workload planning to maintain business continuity during holiday seasons.

• Participate in an on-call rotation, committing to one week per month.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, IT, ICT, or a relevant field.

• A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in telecommunications, focusing mainly on signaling or roaming.

• Strong comprehension of network architecture, SS7/SIGTRAN, LTE, GSM call flows, Mobile Packet Core call flows, and roaming scenarios.

• Familiarity with telecommunications technologies and ITU/ETSI standards.

• Upper-intermediate (B2) English proficiency or higher is required.

• Openness and capability to travel internationally as necessary.

• Experience with the Cellusys Steering of Roaming platform is beneficial.

• Knowledge of 5G networks and/or VoLTE/IMS is a plus.

• Good operational knowledge of Linux is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Docker is a bonus.

• Understanding of Splunk and Python is an added advantage.

• Capacity to work efficiently in an international and multicultural setting.

• Ability to operate independently and as part of a collaborative team.

• Capability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
