This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Manage intricate or high-stakes claim matters
• Provide guidance and leadership to Nurse Consultant - PL colleagues
• Share medical insights regarding the healthcare system and related issues
• Conduct independent investigations, analyses, and evaluations of medical malpractice claims for both self-insured and commercially insured clients
• Accept investigation requests, review cases, create action plans, and carry out investigations accordingly
• Gather data from the organization and clients to document and communicate findings
• Create reports that summarize medical records and interviews
• Highlight issues related to summary reports and offer analysis and recommendations for further claims management
• Conduct weekly interviews with practitioners involved in medical malpractice claims at hospital facilities as necessary
• Engage in follow-up reviews and investigations as directed
• Aid with discovery requests as required
• Provide clients with essential information to assess liability issues and potential exposure
• Assist in pinpointing risk management concerns to reduce liability exposure and related legal costs
• RN license is mandatory
• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant clinical nursing experience is required
• At least two (2) years of experience as a nurse consultant is necessary
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
• LNC (Legal Nurse Consultant) certification or training is preferred
• Experience related to General or Professional Liability investigations is preferred
• Technical knowledge of medical malpractice claims procedures and practices is essential
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including presentation abilities
• Proficiency in PC applications, including Microsoft Office products
• Strong analytical and interpretive capabilities
