Senior Risk Engineering Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Conduct on-site property risk assessments and field inspections independently for both existing and limited prospective policyholders.

• Identify significant loss drivers, property risk engineering exposures, and areas of deficiency.

• Provide consultation to insureds and customers regarding practical recommendations for risk improvement and suitable controls.

• Assess high-hazard occupancies, which include plastics manufacturing, aerosols, perfumes, sawmills, and operations dependent on combustible materials or sprinklers.

• Produce technical property risk engineering reports and associated documentation.

• Work collaboratively with Risk Analysts to address identified deficiencies in property risk engineering.

• Collaborate with Technical/Project Specialists on various risk engineering projects and initiatives.

• Mentor junior Risk Engineering Consultants and less experienced Risk Engineering Field Consultants.

• Coordinate with both internal and external resources on risks of various complexities.

• Offer insights and contribute to projects related to risk engineering.

• Travel within the region, which may include occasional overnight stays and infrequent air travel outside the territory.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering field is preferred.

• Over 8 years of experience in technical and/or engineering-related roles.

• Experience with property insurance, particularly in high-hazard property environments.

• Strong knowledge of NFPA Codes and Standards or equivalent Factory Mutual Guidelines.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.

• Basic understanding of Excel.

• Ability to travel frequently by car, with some limited air travel required.

• Solid grasp of both fundamental and advanced technical concepts, practices, and procedures.

• Exceptional communication abilities, including the skill to convey difficult or technical decisions with confidence and clarity.

• High level of proficiency in core competencies of Property Risk Engineering.

• Direct experience in property risk engineering is essential; backgrounds limited to EHS or health & safety are not suitable.
