Senior Risk Engineering Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Conduct on-site property risk assessments and field inspections for both existing and prospective policyholders independently.

• Identify significant loss drivers, property risk engineering exposures, and existing deficiencies.

• Collaborate with insured parties and customers to provide practical recommendations for risk improvement and resolve identified deficiencies.

• Assess high-hazard environments, including plastics manufacturing, aerosol production, perfumes, sawmills, and other combustible or sprinkler-dependent operations.

• Create technical property risk engineering reports and related documentation recommending controls to mitigate potential losses.

• Work together with Risk Analysts and both internal and external resources on risks of varying complexity levels.

• Collaborate with Technical/Project Specialists on risk engineering projects and initiatives.

• Mentor junior and less experienced Risk Engineering Consultants.

• Contribute to risk engineering projects and assist in the development of technical expertise.

• Regularly travel by car, with occasional overnight stays and infrequent air travel outside the territory.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline is preferred.

• Over 8 years of experience in technical and/or engineering-related fields.

• Experience in property, including high hazard property exposure, is required.

• Strong knowledge of NFPA Codes and Standards or equivalent (Factory Mutual Guidelines).

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and a basic understanding of Excel.

• Must be able to travel by car regularly (limited air travel required).

• Solid grasp of fundamental and advanced technical concepts, practices, and procedures.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate difficult or technical decisions with confidence and clarity.

• Consistently exhibit a high level of proficiency across core competencies in Property Risk Engineering.

• Direct property risk engineering experience is essential; backgrounds solely in EHS or health & safety are not compatible.
