Senior Red Hat/UniVerse Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Manage, update, enhance, and optimize Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers that support the Epicor Eclipse/UniVerse environment.

• Streamline provisioning, patch management, and configuration oversight using Red Hat Satellite, Bash, Ansible, and custom scripts.

• Oversee Rocket UniVerse MultiValue database instances, including account management, file handling, sizing, hashing, lock management, configuration, and shared-memory settings.

• Execute backups, transaction logging, point-in-time recovery, and validate restoration processes.

• Monitor session activities, locks, host resource usage, database performance, and replication status.

• Analyze data discrepancies utilizing RetrieVe/UniQuery and UniVerse BASIC.

• Manage UniVerse licensing, implement TLS transport encryption, and ensure data-at-rest encryption compliance.

• Take ownership of and track Epicor Eclipse SQL Replication into the SQL Server data warehouse.

• Facilitate the mapping and transformation of nested MultiValue fields into relational data formats.

• Administer the Information Control Engine integration for dashboards and business intelligence reporting.

• Maintain SQL Server data warehouse schemas, indexes, SQL Agent jobs, and storage configurations.

• Support reporting connections for Power BI, SSRS, and Excel.

• Identify replication failures, perform resynchronization or backfilling as necessary, and ensure data integrity.

• Design and test strategies for backup, disaster recovery, failover, and high availability across RHEL, UniVerse, Eclipse, and SQL Server.

• Strengthen and update RHEL, address vulnerabilities, enforce least privilege principles, and manage audit logging and change management processes.

• Develop runbooks, standard operating procedures, architecture diagrams, knowledge-base documents, and operational automation tools.

• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Applications & Support, Networking, Cybersecurity, and business teams.

• Mentor junior administrators and engage in a shared on-call rotation.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

• A minimum of 7 years of progressive systems administration experience, including senior-level responsibility for production environments.

• Extensive hands-on experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration, including installation, patching, performance optimization, storage management, networking, and security.

• Practical experience in administering Rocket UniVerse or UniData (U2), or another Pick-based MultiValue database.

• Familiarity with Epicor Eclipse ERP or a similar MultiValue-based distribution ERP system.

• Understanding of Microsoft SQL Server and concepts related to data replication and ETL.

• Proficient in Bash scripting and Ansible automation techniques.

• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and enterprise storage solutions like SAN/NAS.

• Direct experience with Epicor Eclipse SQL Replication and the Information Control Engine (ICE).

• Reporting and BI integration experience with Power BI, SSRS, and Excel in relation to a replicated SQL data warehouse.

• Background in wholesale distribution or experience in a multi-site, high-transaction environment.

• Familiarity with UniVerse BASIC and capability to read and modify existing MultiValue code.

• Experience in managing vendor support relationships with Epicor, Rocket Software, and VARs.

• Knowledge of Rubrik Data Protection and Zerto Continuous Data Protection.

• Willingness to be available for after-hours maintenance and shared on-call support.

• Preferred certifications include RHCSA and/or RHCE, Rocket U2 training or certification, and Microsoft SQL Server certification.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and results-driven skills are essential.
