Senior Reactor Operator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Integrate engineering and operational principles from the industry into NuScale's design development to guarantee safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.

• Create training programs for NuScale plant personnel utilizing training principles, techniques, practices, and relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.

• Operate under consultative guidance towards long-term goals and objectives.

• Define objectives and strategies for critical assignments.

• Collaborate with team members to evaluate solutions and ensure high-quality deliverables.

• Engage with management and other organizations on matters that necessitate cross-organizational coordination.

• Prepare and deliver technical information regarding NuScale projects to the NRC, potential customers, and other stakeholders.

• Conduct or coordinate special studies, analyses, and design decisions that address unique operational and design challenges.

• Develop cost estimates for studies, analyses, and alternative design decisions where applicable.

• Utilize expert knowledge of nuclear power plant operational principles to assist in Standard Design Approval development.

• Tackle complex issues using professional operational principles and company objectives.

• Conduct design reviews to ensure safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the plant.

• Establish operating and maintenance procedures for normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.

• Create training materials to promote safe and efficient plant operation.

• Interface with potential customers, investors, and the NRC to facilitate marketing and licensing of the NuScale design.

• Carry out other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a technical field, Human Factors Engineering, or Industrial Psychology from a four-year accredited college or university.

• Previously held an SRO or RO license or an SRO certification.

• At least 8 years of full-time experience in the commercial nuclear power industry.

• Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

• Direct experience in the Training Department is highly desired.

• Preferred experience in plant operations, procedure development, and human factors engineering.

• Ability to understand and communicate effectively via phone, personal interaction, and computer.

• Capacity to learn new job functions and quickly grasp and apply new concepts.

• Willingness to travel nationally and locally using common transportation methods.
