Web Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and enhance responsive web experiences for Rare Candy’s collector-facing product.

• Develop maintainable user interfaces utilizing React, TypeScript, and contemporary web tools.

• Collaborate with backend engineers by integrating with GraphQL APIs and addressing data requirements and API specifications.

• Take ownership of features from the initial technical planning stage through to implementation, testing, launch, and subsequent enhancements.

• Construct reusable components and establish consistent interaction patterns.

• Ensure that experiences are functional across various devices and browsers, paying close attention to accessibility, loading states, error management, and overall performance.

• Troubleshoot production bugs and investigate their root causes.

• Work alongside product and design teams to harmonize user needs with technical limitations and project timelines.

• Contribute to code reviews and effectively communicate progress, trade-offs, and any obstacles faced.

• Analyze feedback on features and evaluate performance metrics.

• Define collection browsing experiences in collaboration with design and backend engineering teams.

• Engage in product discussions regarding upcoming releases.

• Share pull requests that include summaries, screenshots, and testing documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Approximately 3–5 years of experience in web engineering with a proven track record in delivering significant production features.

• Proficiency in React and TypeScript.

• Solid understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS fundamentals.

• Capability to take features from product concept or design through to implementation and release.

• Experience with GraphQL or REST APIs.

• Knowledge of data fetching, caching, and client-side state management.

• Proven experience in developing responsive, accessible user interfaces.

• Understanding of component design, rendering behavior, and the trade-offs involved in performance.

• Ability to write effective tests and troubleshoot browser, network, and API issues.

• Clear communication regarding technical trade-offs.

• Adaptability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with changing priorities.

• Familiarity with trading-card or collector communities.
