Senior QA Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee quality initiatives for products that assist healthcare providers, patient workflows, and diagnostic reporting.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers throughout the entire product development process.

• Evaluate requirements, architecture, interfaces, integrations, and dependencies to formulate risk-based testing strategies.

• Establish and enhance quality standards, testing methodologies, and processes.

• Develop and uphold test strategies, plans, cases, and related documentation.

• Conduct both manual and automated testing of web and mobile applications, which includes exploratory, functional, acceptance, regression, end-to-end, and UI testing.

• Promote and advance test automation standards and coverage.

• Test REST APIs and backend services to ensure accuracy, reliability, and resilience.

• Identify, prioritize, document, and monitor defects and quality risks until resolution.

• Lead root cause analysis efforts and implement measures to prevent defect recurrence.

• Communicate the testing strategy, quality risks, release readiness, and trade-offs to stakeholders.

• Drive systemic quality enhancements and process improvements through to completion.

• Mentor engineers and team members on quality practices.

• Integrate automated testing within CI/CD pipelines.

• Assess applications against accessibility standards, including WCAG.

• Contribute to performance and security testing based on product risks and team requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance.

• Proven success in leading quality initiatives across cross-functional and partner teams.

• In-depth knowledge of QA methodologies, test design techniques, and risk-based testing for complex systems.

• Strong comprehension of web and mobile technologies, client-server architectures, APIs, integrations, and system dependencies.

• Practical experience in testing native or cross-platform mobile applications on iOS and Android across various devices, operating systems, screen sizes, and network conditions.

• Hands-on experience with testing REST APIs and backend services.

• Proficient in at least one programming language, such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Java.

• Experience in developing or enhancing test automation frameworks, standards, coverage, reliability, and maintainability.

• Familiarity with modern web or mobile automation frameworks and integrating automated tests into CI/CD workflows.

• Knowledge of accessibility testing and standards like WCAG, with experience using tools such as Axe, Lighthouse, or screen readers.

• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools, such as Jira, within an Agile development environment.

• Strong analytical and communication abilities.

• Track record of driving cross-functional quality or process improvements to completion.

• Experience mentoring both technical and non-technical colleagues and enhancing quality capabilities across teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of hire without current or future employer visa sponsorship.
