Senior QA Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Thailand.

📋 Description

• Take charge of and enhance the Maestro test suite for both iOS and Android platforms.

• Expand API test coverage within Bruno and incorporate it into the continuous integration process.

• Develop and sustain AI-driven testing workflows using Claude, MCP device automation, Maestro MCP, Agent Device, and Argent MCP.

• Create agents that assess code changes against tickets and identify testing requirements.

• Manage and enhance nightly AI-driven chaos testing, which includes video recording and ticket reporting.

• Determine and prioritize the next items for automation based on associated risks and value.

• Assess new AI and testing tools and integrate beneficial ones into the team's workflow.

• Conduct hands-on testing for new features, edge cases, and exploratory scenarios.

• Oversee release regression and smoke testing efforts across iOS and Android.

• Test in-app purchases and subscription functionalities on both the App Store and Google Play.

• Analyze production issues utilizing Firebase Crashlytics, Bugsnag, and similar diagnostic tools, then establish regression coverage.

• Review specifications and designs early in the process to provide feedback prior to development.

• Confirm feature flags and Firebase Remote Config rollouts, including A/B testing variants.

• Utilize Firebase Test Lab and other device-testing infrastructures.

• Balance automation initiatives with focused manual testing efforts.

• Mentor two QA engineers through sessions focused on automation, scripting, and AI-tool integration.

• Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions and maintain comprehensive testing documentation.

• Assist in transitioning the team from a manual-first approach to an automation-first testing strategy.

• Collaborate with engineers to embed testing into the development process rather than relegating it to the QA phase.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on QA experience, with a strong emphasis on testing mobile applications.

• Proven hands-on experience with testing both iOS and Android platforms.

• Experience in creating and maintaining automated tests utilized by a genuine engineering team.

• Strong background in mobile automation, preferably including Maestro.

• Familiarity with API test automation, ideally involving Bruno.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into development workflows.

• Background in AI-assisted testing or AI agent tooling, with demonstrable shipped automation or workflows.

• Hands-on experience with MCP-based tools or agent-driven device automation.

• Knowledge of chaos testing, fuzz testing, or other methodologies for uncovering unexpected failures.

• Experience in testing in-app purchases and subscriptions on the App Store and Google Play.

• Familiarity with testing Stripe payments or similar online payment processes.

• Hands-on experience with Firebase Crashlytics, Remote Config, and Test Lab.

• Experience in mentoring or leading other QA engineers.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript or similar.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.

• Proven track record of taking ownership and creating solutions to address gaps in testing processes.
