This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design high-quality protection schemes for T&D substations, data centers, industrial applications, and BESS, encompassing one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, and relay settings.
• Review, optimize, and certify protection and control designs with a P.E. seal.
• Lead and coordinate the technical aspects of AC power substation projects related to protection and control.
• Review, enhance, and validate auxiliary system designs, including diesel generators, low-voltage switchgear, AC/DC distribution panels, batteries, and battery chargers.
• Analyze power-system load-flow, fault, relay-setting coordination, and transient studies.
• Develop or assess outage, cut-over, and testing procedures.
• Implement IEC 61850 processes and system-bus architecture in substations.
• Collaborate with protection and control, engineering, design, project management, sourcing, customer, and support teams.
• Examine post-fault records to confirm proper system functionality.
• Lead or assist in factory acceptance testing and site testing and commissioning activities.
• Create proposals, technical specifications, design-hour and material estimates, vendor quotations, clarifications, exceptions, technical responses, and validations.
• Develop design templates and tools for the secondary design engineering team.
• Establish processes and procedures, conduct root-cause analyses, implement corrective measures, and validate process control.
• Support ISO 9002 quality initiatives.
• Mentor the secondary design team and offer technical guidance.
• Represent GE on external standards committees such as IEEE.
• Act as the project engineering manager for selected small to medium-sized projects.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Must hold a P.E. License in the United States.
• At least 10 years of experience in system protection schemes, relay selection, primary equipment interface requirements, operational analysis, communication systems, and maintenance practices for transmission, distribution, and generation protection applications at AIS and GIS substations.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in design reviews and technical mentoring.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time, including internationally, for meetings and on-site commissioning tests.
• Adherence to company travel and tax policies.
• Extensive experience in protective-relaying coordination and practices.
• Strong understanding of circuit breakers, fuses, circuit switchers, transformers, shunt reactors, capacitor banks, harmonic filters, HVDC, and FACTS systems.
• Must be a member of a standards committee such as IEEE or demonstrate intent to join.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.

• Capable of performing under pressure and managing change and complexity in dynamic settings.
