Senior Protection and Control Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create, evaluate, and apply Professional Engineer stamps to protection schemes, electrical schematics, and relay settings for substations, data centers, and battery energy storage systems.

• Oversee the technical components of power substation projects to guarantee safe operations.

• Analyze load flow, fault, and relay coordination studies.

• Provide mentorship to secondary design teams.

• Set technical standards and generate design templates.

• Conduct root cause analyses.

• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and standards organizations like the IEEE to promote advancements in industry practices.

• Spearhead advanced protection and control designs for transmission, distribution, and renewable energy initiatives.

• Foster technical excellence across AC, HVDC, and FACTS solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

• Valid Professional Engineer license.

• At least 10 years of experience with system protection schemes, relay selection, and operational analysis for transmission and distribution substations.

• At least 8 years of experience in design reviews and providing technical mentorship.

• Availability to travel up to 10% of the time for client meetings and on-site evaluations.

• Legally eligible to work in the United States.

• Preferred experience with International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61850 processes and system bus architecture.

• Preferred active membership in standards committees such as the IEEE.

• Preferred expertise in Lean problem-solving methodologies.
