Senior Proposal Development Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Offer pre-award assistance to faculty and postdoctoral researchers during the proposal development process.

• Create budgets and finalize proposal documentation and submissions.

• Prepare applications for federal and non-federal funding, which includes program projects and training grants.

• Identify, organize, facilitate, and submit new proposals, as well as resubmissions and competitive renewals for research funding.

• Support grant and collaborative initiatives with other institutions.

• Provide leadership, training, and oversight for the proposal specialist within the designated cluster.

• Collaborate with cluster staff, JORA proposal specialists, and other partnering offices.

• Ensure that proposals are comprehensive, accurate, and adhere to the regulations, policies, and guidelines set by sponsors and the institution.

• Report directly to the appointed Associate Director.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in electronic grant submissions via Grants.gov and various electronic platforms.

• 3 to 5 years of experience in the field of academic research administration.

• In-depth understanding of sponsored research funding sources, including federal and non-federal agencies, international organizations, industry, foundations, private entities, and non-profit organizations.

• Expertise in federal funding regulations, such as 2 CFR 200 and FAR.

• Skilled in financial systems, accounting, and cost accounting standards related to grants and contract management.

• Experience with budgeting using Excel.

• Proficient in Excel, Adobe Professional, and DocuSign.

• Adaptability and flexibility in response to evolving internal and external policies.

• Capable of setting priorities and managing multiple tasks in a high-volume environment.

• Ability to perform efficiently and effectively under pressure.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong organizational competencies.

• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced academic environment.

• Ability to cultivate a collaborative, customer-focused work atmosphere.

• Preferred qualifications: Certified Research Administration (CRA), Certified PreAward Research Administration (CPRA), and/or Certified Financial Research Administration (CFRA).

• Preferred: Familiarity with Workday.
