Senior Project Manager, MEP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide comprehensive leadership for MEP and commissioning activities from the preconstruction phase through project handover.

• Develop and implement project-specific strategies for MEP and commissioning.

• Set project goals, priorities, and performance expectations for the teams involved.

• Track project progress and execute corrective measures to ensure adherence to schedule and budget objectives.

• Oversee project resources, staffing arrangements, and workload allocation.

• Supervise the installation, startup, testing, and handover of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and life safety systems.

• Ensure alignment with contract documents, specifications, approved submissions, and manufacturer requirements.

• Lead technical and constructability reviews, along with issue resolution efforts.

• Coordinate activities among subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and project teams.

• Promote safe, efficient, and accurate field execution.

• Direct commissioning planning, scheduling, and execution activities.

• Ensure completion of pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing requirements.

• Collaborate with clients, operations teams, commissioning agents, and trade partners throughout testing and turnover processes.

• Confirm system readiness and operational performance prior to client acceptance.

• Ensure that turnover documentation is complete, accurate, and delivered punctually.

• Advocate for and uphold a culture of zero defects.

• Collaborate with QA/QC teams on inspections, testing, and documentation processes.

• Monitor quality metrics and implement initiatives for continuous improvement.

• Manage and address deficiencies and non-conformance reports.

• Conduct audits and reviews to ensure compliance with company standards and client specifications.

• Act as the primary client liaison for MEP and commissioning activities.

• Lead project meetings, progress evaluations, and executive-level reporting.

• Cultivate relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

• Mentor and nurture the development of Project Managers, Engineers, Coordinators, Superintendents, and QA/QC personnel.

• Encourage accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred.

• A combination of education, military experience, technical training, and industry experience may also be considered.

• At least 10 years of experience in MEP construction, commissioning, or mission-critical project delivery is required.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience managing large project teams and complex MEP scopes is necessary.

• Experience with hyperscale data centers, mission-critical facilities, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, industrial projects, or similarly complex environments is preferred.

• Background in managing commissioning programs, integrated systems testing, and operational turnover activities is essential.

• Industry certifications such as PMP, PE, CCM, LEED, CxA, or others are preferred.

• Strong problem-solving abilities with an emphasis on identifying root causes and long-term solutions.

• A team-oriented approach with a focus on collaboration and shared success.

• Proficiency in QA/QC and commissioning platforms like CxAlloy or comparable tools.

• Advanced knowledge of QA/QC processes, standards, and lifecycle management.

• In-depth understanding of MEP systems, installation practices, and commissioning requirements.

• Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.

• Ability to establish and enforce standards across various teams and projects.

• Strong analytical skills with the capacity to identify trends and drive improvements.

• Direct and effective communication skills with field teams, leadership, and clients.

• High level of accountability focused on quality, consistency, and results.
