
Senior Product Manager, HELOC Decisioning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more state.
• Take ownership of the strategy and roadmap aimed at enhancing the decision-making and verification process.
• Convert the needs of risk, capital, compliance, and the borrower experience into priorities, requirements, and implementation plans.
• Work alongside Capital, Compliance, Risk, and ML teams to broaden underwriting guidelines.
• Oversee the delivery of expanded borrower segments.
• Define and refine the backend logic for underwriting and decision-making processes.
• Maintain a balance between decision-making accuracy, borrower friction, data utilization, and risk uncertainty.
• Enhance automation and facilitate instant approvals in the HELOC underwriting process.
• Utilize new data sources and machine learning, including LLMs, to minimize manual tasks while boosting speed and quality.
• Improve conversion rates, operational efficiency, and portfolio quality for Upstart’s HELOC division.
• A minimum of 5 years of product management experience within fast-paced, customer-focused teams.
• Proven ability to drive business results through quantitative metrics and qualitative insights.
• A pragmatic approach to data with the ability to make decisions using imperfect information.
• Well-developed risk judgment capabilities.
• Strong sense of product and experience in creating and executing multi-quarter roadmaps.
• Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills.
• Clear, concise, and convincing communication abilities.
• A mindset geared towards ownership and growth.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective cross-functional partnerships.
• Preferred: experience in designing intricate backend systems that yield direct business outcomes.
• Preferred: experience working closely with Machine Learning teams.
• Ability to operate in East/West Coast time zones.
• Must be able to work remotely from the United States or Canada; Upstart is currently unable to hire in Quebec.
