This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assume complete responsibility for the success and adoption metrics of hardware products while defining their integration into the wider hardware-software ecosystem.
• Anticipate technology trends over the next 1–3 years, initiate projects to mitigate risks, and translate market dynamics into a clear portfolio strategy.
• Create field-ready, software-extensible platforms that consider ruggedization, long refresh cycles, and seamless installation.
• Develop business cases and oversee the hardware lifecycle from conception and development to launch and end-of-life.
• Conduct ongoing internal and external research to validate assumptions and discover opportunities in edge AI, computing, and sensing technologies.
• Influence architectural and platform investment decisions based on performance limitations, supply chain risks, industry standards, and P&L objectives.
• Coordinate Engineering, Operations, and Go-To-Market teams on cohesive release plans across agile software and waterfall hardware development methodologies.
• Collaborate with industry standards organizations and working groups, representing the device platform strategy externally.
• Report directly to the Product Director of Hardware.
• Extensive experience in product management.
• Proven ability to excel in environments characterized by autonomy and ambiguity.
• Capability to manage relationships upwards and laterally, with a strategic approach to declining requests when necessary.
• Systems-level comprehension of sensors, edge computing, firmware, and cloud-based software.
• Demonstrated success in designing products for rugged, outdoor, or industrial applications.
• Profound knowledge of environmental ratings, physical user interfaces, installation user experiences, and hardware durability.
• User-centered product discovery employing multi-modal data analysis.
• Strong business insight, encompassing COGS, profit margins, hardware unit economics, engineering objectives, and corporate sales targets.
• Familiarity with the procurement processes of government agencies, municipalities, and enterprises for infrastructure hardware.
• Proven ability to navigate lengthy sales cycles and stringent procurement limitations.
• Awareness of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
