This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +23 more states.
• Oversee the complete money movement process, including Same-Day ACH, RTP, wires, push-to-card, payroll cards, and payout experiences.
• Handle payment returns, rejections, retries, cutoff windows, settlement confirmations, reconciliations, funding windows, and failure management.
• Create reusable, rail-agnostic payment services with clear API and data contracts.
• Establish payment-service SLAs, performance metrics, observability, multi-tenant scalability, backward compatibility, and migration strategies.
• Develop PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, state and error handling, field-level mappings, and technical scoping documents.
• Collaborate daily with engineering teams through discovery, refinement, sprint planning, standups, demos, and delivery processes.
• Direct augmented and distributed engineering resources and review the work produced.
• Ensure production validation of initiatives by analyzing logs, querying data, and confirming corrections.
• Define success metrics and guardrails; conduct experiments, staged rollouts, canary releases, holdbacks, and rollback strategies.
• Build analytics and instrumentation to independently address product inquiries.
• Transform vague symptoms, complaints, and incidents into well-defined, sequenced tasks.
• Reverse-engineer undocumented current states and enhance documentation.
• Coordinate efforts across Engineering, Payment Operations, Finance, Legal and Compliance, Customer Success, and Business Development.
• Manage product relationships with sponsor banks, processors, card networks, and data aggregators.
• Design solutions for edge cases, compliance, auditability, risk mitigation, and payment resilience.
• Own and report on payment-health metrics such as success rate, time-to-land, cost per transaction, return rate, and exception volume.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in product management.
• At least 5 years of experience in developing payments or financial infrastructure products.
• In-depth understanding of fund flows and domestic settlement across ACH, RTP, wires, and card rails.
• Proven experience managing live bank payment integrations from start to finish, including returns and exception handling.
• Expertise in building reusable payment services with clearly defined API and data contracts.
• Background in collaborating directly with sponsor banks, processors, or card networks regarding technical, commercial, and compliance matters.
• Experience in drafting detailed payment system requirements, including PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, edge cases, and field-level mapping.
• Experience in scaling a payment system during significant volume growth.
• Proven ability to solve ambiguous 0-to-1 problems and create scalable B2B products from inception.
• Experience in designing, executing, and analyzing A/B tests with attention to sample sizing and statistical significance.
• Familiarity with staged and canary rollouts, holdbacks, and guardrail metrics.
• Experience in fostering cross-functional alignment without direct authority.
• Strong technical fluency: ability to read API contracts and data models, trace data flows, evaluate integrations, and discuss architecture with engineers.
• Systems-thinking approach towards edge cases, failure scenarios, migration strategies, backward compatibility, and performance metrics.
• Experience delivering in an agile environment with accountability for outcomes.
• Experience leading a production payment incident as the product lead.
• Familiarity with using AI tools to enhance personal productivity.
• Candidates must possess the right to work in the United States without requiring employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Preferred: Experience in Earned Wage Access, payroll, or on-demand pay.
• Preferred: Experience in card issuing or payroll card programs.
• Preferred: Background in treasury, ledger, reconciliation, or cash management products.
• Preferred: Experience directing distributed or contracted engineering teams.
• Preferred: Proficiency in SQL or scripting.
• Preferred: Experience with experimentation and analytics tools.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Reg E, CFPB guidance, NACHA operating rules, PCI, state money transmission, or open banking frameworks.
• Preferred: Experience in a company with 50–500 employees assembling a financial platform.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
