Senior Product Engineer, Laravel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +5 more locations.

📋 Description

• Create new features, sustain existing functionalities, and develop product workflows for Hospitable’s main platform and growth initiatives.

• Define products, deliver new core platform features from inception to launch, and refine based on user feedback.

• Design straightforward, user-friendly experiences and sustainable engineering solutions.

• Collaborate with product, sales, customer success, and engineering teams to launch impactful features.

• Operate within the monolithic codebase on Kubernetes-based infrastructure-as-code.

• Apply and utilize observability tools for tracking and debugging after deployment.

• Detect and address significant performance, resource, and feature-related issues.

• Refactor core platform code to enhance clarity, maintainability, and testability.

• Review AI-generated production code and ensure understanding prior to deployment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, primarily concentrating on backend technologies.

• Extensive experience with Laravel, PHP 7+, MySQL, and testing pipelines in a web application utilized by paying customers.

• Proficiency in Laravel is essential.

• Practical experience with coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, or similar in an actual production codebase.

• Capability to write code that is testable, maintainable, and easy to understand.

• A customer- and business-oriented approach that avoids unnecessary complexity.

• Ability to reason through non-obvious usage scenarios and their ripple effects in intricate systems.

• High level of empathy towards customers and colleagues.

• Outstanding written communication skills; familiarity with Slack and Notion for communication.

• Self-driven and capable of making decisions in uncertain situations.

• Experience with queue/job-centric backends is advantageous.

• Experience in building production systems where integration of third-party API data is critical is a significant advantage.
