This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky.
• Define the product roadmap and critically assess what needs to be developed.
• Transform ambiguous challenges into well-defined tasks, create user stories, and refine requirements.
• Take ownership of results including user adoption, accessibility, performance, and reliability.
• Conduct discovery sessions, spikes, and prototypes prior to full-scale implementation.
• Directly interact with users and stakeholders when feasible.
• Design, develop, and deploy full-stack applications from start to finish.
• Create responsive user interfaces that comply with WCAG 2.2 standards.
• Implement accessible semantic HTML, ARIA roles, keyboard navigation, and conduct screen-reader testing.
• Enhance application performance and apply security best practices.
• Utilize test-driven development methodologies across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Design and implement scalable, domain-driven Node.js microservices.
• Develop and design efficient GraphQL services.
• Deploy and manage applications on Azure, GCP, or AWS platforms.
• Utilize Docker or Kubernetes to ensure scalability and resilience.
• Build and maintain tooling and skills for AI-accelerated development.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers within Agile teams.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for APIs, microservices, and front-end components.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to full-stack web development.
• A minimum of 2 years of practical experience with React, including hooks, state management, and component architecture.
• Strong understanding of WCAG 2.2 success criteria, semantic HTML, ARIA patterns, and assistive technology testing.
• At least 2 years of experience in designing and implementing GraphQL APIs using Apollo Server.
• Minimum of 2 years working with Node.js to develop back-end services.
• At least 1 year of experience in building and deploying production-level microservices.
• Demonstrated experience in applying test-driven development using frameworks like Vitest, Jest, or Playwright.
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
• Strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Familiarity with techniques for front-end performance optimization.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, OpenAPI specifications, and best practices for GraphQL.
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of event streaming frameworks like Apache Kafka, including experience with production producers and consumers.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, with a strong preference for Azure.
• Basic knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Capable of working independently and making informed technical decisions with incomplete information.
• Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
• Comfortable working in an environment without a defined playbook.
• A minimum internet download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps for remote work.
• A dedicated workspace free from interruptions to ensure the protection of member PHI/HIPAA information.
• Occasional travel to Humana offices for training or meetings may be necessary.
