Senior Product Designer – Cards & Credit

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +4 more locations.

📋 Description

• Take charge of significant Cards & Credit product challenges from the initial framing to the final shipped experience, closely collaborating with Product and Engineering to comprehend the issues and define what to develop.

• Simplify complex systems, requirements, and edge cases into user-friendly and intuitive experiences.

• Engage with the complete design stack, covering problem framing, concept exploration, workflows, detailed interactions, visual design, prototyping, and final execution.

• Conduct broad explorations and design based on first principles, questioning established patterns and assumptions.

• Infuse interaction and visual craftsmanship into Cards & Credit, focusing on workflow structure, hierarchy, typography, motion, and state transitions.

• Partner with Mercury’s Brand team on physical cards and associated products to ensure a unified experience.

• Cultivate a profound understanding of customers, articulate design rationale clearly, and navigate trade-offs with stakeholders.

• A robust portfolio showcasing outstanding product thinking, interaction design, and visual craftsmanship.

• Capability to grasp complex systems and translate them into simple, thoughtful product experiences.

• An innate curiosity about challenges, combined with a readiness to question assumptions and work from foundational principles.

• A high standard for craftsmanship and discernment regarding where additional details enhance an experience.

• Comfort in navigating uncertainty and taking ownership even when not all requirements are defined.

• A tendency to explore multiple possibilities, prototype ideas, and pivot when stronger solutions arise.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to articulate thought processes, explain trade-offs, and build consensus with Product and Engineering partners.

• A genuine concern for customers and a drive to create products that enhance their lives.

• Experience in banking, fintech, cards, or credit is not a prerequisite.
