Senior Principal Software Architect, DataEdge Strategy – Architecture

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Define and lead the technical strategy for the DataEdge portfolio.

• Collaborate with Product Management to establish platform strategy and convert business priorities into a cohesive, cross-product technical roadmap.

• Foster alignment among Product and Engineering teams while balancing product requirements with portfolio-wide platform goals.

• Work alongside architects from DataEdge, other Rocket portfolios, and business units to pinpoint shared platform opportunities and promote architectural consistency.

• Champion the development of reusable services, APIs, frameworks, and common platform functionalities while streamlining overlapping technologies.

• Formulate cloud-native strategies for deployment, configuration, scalability, observability, security, and operational excellence.

• Spearhead the adoption and integration of AI platform capabilities, intelligent automation, MCP, and agentic systems.

• Identify and prioritize AI capabilities that deliver measurable customer value and provide competitive advantage.

• Represent the DataEdge technology vision both internally and externally.

• Keep abreast of industry trends, analyst insights, emerging technologies, and competitive offerings to influence portfolio strategy and investment priorities.

• Define DataEdge’s position within the larger data, analytics, and AI ecosystem.

• Collaborate with Rocket portfolios and external technology partners to provide integrated platform capabilities and deliver unique customer outcomes.

• Advocate for industry standards, open APIs, and interoperability frameworks.

• Mentor teams on AI-enhanced development practices, including AI-assisted coding, testing, documentation, modernization, and delivery.

• Conduct architecture reviews, communicate decisions and trade-offs, and guide senior technical talent throughout the portfolio.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of software engineering experience.

• Established experience in defining architecture and technology strategy across a variety of enterprise products or platforms.

• Strong proficiency in LLMs, agentic systems, MCP, retrieval architectures, enterprise AI integration, and responsible AI practices.

• Proven track record of delivering AI-enabled product capabilities and adopting AI-enabled engineering methodologies.

• Extensive knowledge in cloud-native architecture, containers, Kubernetes, distributed systems, and contemporary software delivery.

• Experience in developing shared platforms, services, APIs, or reusable frameworks, along with leading technology consolidation efforts.

• Successful collaboration with Product Management on strategy, roadmaps, prioritization, and investment choices.

• Proven capability to lead cross-product initiatives, address competing priorities, and influence stakeholders without direct authority.

• Outstanding communication and facilitation skills, particularly with executive leadership.

• Experience in mentoring senior engineers or architects.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

• Ability to adhere to information security responsibilities.

• Willingness to travel 5%-10% of the time.
