Senior Power Systems Engineer – Modeling & Analytics

📋 Description

• Management of teams and client relationships

• Leading a proficient team in power systems modeling and analytics tailored for utility clients

• Providing mentorship and training to junior engineers in the principles and theories of power engineering

• Striving for the continuous enhancement of engineering, technical, and professional knowledge and skills, as well as improving overall individual and team performance

• Handling project management duties such as forecasting, monitoring hours, budgeting, tracking milestones, scheduling meetings, and delegating tasks

• Engaging with potential clients to showcase ICF’s expertise and to secure new business opportunities

• Formulating scopes of work, project timelines, and budget estimates

• Participating in weekly client meetings to provide project status updates

• Creating, modifying, and maintaining transmission short circuit models utilizing software like CAPE and ASPEN

• Developing, adjusting, and sustaining transmission power flow models in applications such as PSSE and PSCAD

• Constructing, updating, and managing distribution system models in tools like CYME, Synergi, and WindMil

• Conducting Arc Flash analyses of facilities to determine hazard ratings

• Evaluating transmission line models based on LiDAR and 3D models using software like PLS-CADD

• Executing voltage imbalance analyses in programs like PSCAD

• Assessing thermal ampacity ratings for conductors and equipment in accordance with standards such as FAC-008, FERC-881, and pertinent IEEE guidelines

• Producing comprehensive technical reports that summarize the findings from analyses

• Developing automation scripts aimed at enhancing the efficiency and precision of the aforementioned tasks, utilizing programming languages such as Python, SQL, and VBA


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline

• Over 8 years of experience in electrical engineering theories and principles, including transmission and distribution system modeling, short circuit and power flow analysis, arc flash hazard evaluations, voltage imbalance studies, and/or thermal ampacity ratings

• More than 5 years of experience within an electric utility environment, such as an investor-owned utility, municipal utility, or electric cooperative
