This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate within a project team alongside engineers and designers on both new and existing electrical systems for nuclear power plants.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical engineering challenges.
• Develop and evaluate engineering design change packages for the installation, replacement, or upgrading of plant equipment.
• Create and assess AC/DC power studies, short-circuit analyses, cable ampacity, voltage-drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, and protective relay calculations.
• Draft and review equipment procurement specifications.
• Engage in vendor bid evaluations and manage vendor inquiries and responses.
• Prepare and evaluate conceptual design scoping documents, which includes constructability assessments.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Structural, Civil, and I&C engineering and design teams.
• Liaise with clients, vendors, and personnel involved in implementation.
• Review vendor documentation and provide written feedback.
• Participate in client meetings and conduct site field walkdowns.
• Travel to client and vendor locations, as well as plant sites, for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification.
• Assist in site installation activities throughout project execution.
• Support the project manager in ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Define project scope, deliverables, status tracking, progress reporting, and issue resolution.
• Coordinate the completion of project deliverables.
• A degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• At least 7 years of experience in designing electrical engineering systems within a project team environment, particularly in power plant design for industrial applications.
• Proficiency in selecting equipment and materials, as well as preparing and assembling engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.
• Experience in electrical system design, including low- and medium-voltage distribution systems, transformers, generators, motors, relays, and associated equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• A detail-oriented approach to work is essential.
• Must be capable of obtaining unescorted access to a nuclear power station.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. is required; the employer does not provide sponsorship for work authorization.
• Familiarity with AI, automation, programming, or comparable technologies is appreciated, but not mandatory.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is valued, but not required.
• A Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is valued, but not required.
