Senior Platform Ops Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain the essential platform infrastructure for engineering teams.

• Lead and engage in solution architecture and implementation across various domains.

• Create, enhance, and manage CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, reusable patterns, and automation solutions.

• Design standardized, reusable cloud infrastructure templates while ensuring security and compliance.

• Advocate for software delivery practices that emphasize rapid feedback, observability, and operational excellence.

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams on interdisciplinary projects.

• Assess standards and practices, identify deficiencies, and enhance Development, Security, and Operations methodologies.

• Provide progress updates, documentation, knowledge sharing, and technical collaboration.

• Comprehend engineering requirements, refine specifications, and deliver solutions that enhance developer productivity.

• Engage with emerging technologies related to AI, MCP, and RAG.

• Monitor and optimize cloud expenditures through cost governance and resource allocation.

• Maintain SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs while enhancing service reliability and uptime.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and conduct design reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of hands-on experience with AWS, particularly in Infrastructure as Code.

• At least 4 years of experience in managing and maintaining Linux systems.

• More than 3 years of Python experience for automation and scripting.

• Practical experience with Git and automated workflows.

• Familiarity with AWS security best practices, including DNS, secure VPCs, and database security (PostgreSQL, MySQL).

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to troubleshoot intricate issues in distributed systems across networking, computing, storage, and application layers.

• Experience with packet captures, log analysis, performance profiling, and diagnosing sporadic production failures.

• More than 3 years of hands-on experience with Terraform, including module development, state management, and multi-environment workflows.

• Understanding of networking fundamentals: VPCs, load balancers, DNS, CDNs, service mesh, and network troubleshooting.

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and ELK stacks.

• Incident management experience with PagerDuty, on-call rotations, and a post-mortem culture.

• AWS certifications are an added advantage.

• Knowledge of container security and orchestration is an added advantage.

• Understanding the fundamentals of running AI-related services is a bonus.

• Experience with open-source or internal platform tools is a bonus.

• Experience with multi-account AWS strategies, chaos engineering, and platform-as-a-product tools is a bonus.
