Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and manage Vultr's extensive DNS infrastructure, which includes recursive DNS, reverse DNS, authoritative DNS, and integrations with PowerDNS instances.

• Oversee and enhance the PHP-based DNS API, with potential updates in Go or Rust.

• Act as a subject matter expert to diagnose and resolve intricate DNS and network incidents throughout the organization.

• Promote automation and infrastructure-as-code methodologies within platform services to minimize manual effort and enhance reliability.

• Work collaboratively with network and infrastructure teams on BGP route reflectors and wider platform tools.

• Enhance observability and operational excellence by utilizing Grafana, Loki, and Mimir to monitor the health of DNS and platform services.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or systems engineering within a production environment.

• Extensive hands-on experience with DNS at scale, encompassing recursive and authoritative DNS, DNSSEC, zone management, and the troubleshooting of complex resolution failures.

• Solid foundational knowledge in Linux systems engineering, including networking, service management, and operational responsibility for production services.

• Experience in developing or maintaining APIs or automation layers, with proficiency in PHP and/or Go or Rust.

• Proven experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.

• Candidates must be based in the United States.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
