Staff Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +36 more states.

📋 Description

• Eliminate repetitive tasks through automation and self-service by developing modules and tools for service configuration, deployments, and troubleshooting.

• Ensure platform stability and successful delivery outcomes, which include incident response and on-call management.

• Invest in AI-driven development workflows for routine maintenance tasks.

• Optimize cloud platform expenses across AWS and third-party service providers.

• Design and provide guidance to teams implementing ML workflows, real-time events, and video streaming.

• Own and advance the Terraform ecosystem, encompassing shared modules, state and version control, and migration strategies.

• Create and sustain the internal developer platform and deployment automation using GitHub Actions, ECS, Lambda, and AI agents.

• Manage and operate the AWS platform, which includes VPC, Transit Gateway, Route 53, CloudFront, IAM, SSO, and Secrets Manager.

• Enhance reliability and operations through Datadog monitoring, participation in on-call duties, and incident response initiatives.

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship through RFCs, design evaluations, code assessments, and influence across teams without direct reports.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

• In-depth knowledge of AWS, Terraform, ECS/Fargate, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong expertise in TypeScript, capable of writing production-level code.

• Comprehensive understanding of IAM, SSO, and observability tools.

• Authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.

• Experience in developing internal developer platforms or enhancing developer experience.

• Proficiency in Python.

• Experience in creating LLM or AI agents.

• Familiarity with Datadog-as-code practices.

• Understanding of AWS Organizations, policy as code, and security posture management.
