Senior Piping Engineer, Energy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, layout, installation, and maintenance of piping systems and their associated supports.

• Contribute to the overall design and assessment of mechanical components, systems, and piping designs for both nuclear and commercial projects.

• Develop comprehensive engineering drawings, P&IDs, and 3D models for piping routes, equipment positioning, and plant configurations.

• Execute engineering calculations utilizing both traditional and advanced methodologies, adhering to applicable design codes and regulatory standards.

• Specify materials for piping, fittings, valves, and support systems.

• Conduct piping stress analysis using software tools such as PipeStress, AutoPipe, MathCAD, GT STRUDL, and ANSYS.

• Prepare technical specifications, requisitions, and vendor suggestions for piping components.

• Review technical documents, drawings, calculations, design and analysis reports, requirements, manuals, bills of materials, specifications, and data sheets.

• Develop, manage, and execute engineering analyses, activities, and programs to identify and address equipment and system issues.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams ensuring design coherence across various disciplines.

• Mentor, guide, and conduct quality reviews of junior team members as needed.

• Adhere to assigned timelines and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays.

• Operate autonomously with minimal oversight.

• Undertake other assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical or engineering field is required.

• A minimum of 7 years of pertinent experience is necessary.

• Experience in the nuclear industry is preferred.

• Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.

• A master’s degree is preferred.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

• Extensive knowledge and expertise in piping and systems design are required.

• Familiarity with industry codes and regulations is necessary.

• Capability to perform complex technical tasks with minimal supervision.

• Advanced understanding and application of core principles and concepts related to piping and mechanical design.

• Experience with CAD software, such as SolidWorks, is required.

• Must be eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.

• U.S. citizenship is required for consideration.
