Senior PHP, Laravel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using PHP and Laravel.

• Create and sustain RESTful APIs while integrating third-party services.

• Develop and enhance complex database queries utilizing Laravel Eloquent ORM and Query Builder.

• Design effective database schemas, relationships, indexes, and transactions.

• Implement SOLID principles, design patterns, and maintain clean code practices.

• Develop and uphold automated unit, feature, and integration tests.

• Ensure the quality, security, performance, scalability, and maintainability of code.

• Identify and troubleshoot technical issues, bugs, and performance bottlenecks.

• Engage in code reviews and offer constructive technical feedback.

• Collaborate with frontend engineers, QA engineers, DevOps, business analysts, and other stakeholders.

• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

• Contribute to technical documentation and the ongoing improvement of development processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in application development with PHP and Laravel.

• Strong knowledge of PHP 8+ and contemporary PHP development practices.

• Solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, problem-solving, time and space complexity, and memory management.

• Strong understanding of OOP principles, such as encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and abstraction.

• Hands-on experience in developing and maintaining large-scale, scalable applications, including SaaS platforms and/or ERP systems.

• Experience with complex business workflows, system architecture, performance optimization, data integrity, and processing of high-volume data.

• Practical experience with Laravel Eloquent ORM, Query Builder, migrations, middleware, service providers, queues, events, jobs, and task scheduling.

• Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, aggregations, relationships, and query optimization.

• Strong experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, covering database design, indexing, transactions, and performance tuning.

• Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.

• Understanding of SOLID principles, design patterns, clean code, and maintainable software architecture.

• Experience in writing and maintaining automated unit, feature, and integration tests using PHPUnit or Pest.

• Familiarity with software testing principles, TDD concepts, and QA best practices.

• Commitment to writing or updating automated tests for both new and modified functionalities.

• Experience utilizing Git, branching strategies, pull requests, and code review workflows.

• Understanding of application security, including authentication, authorization, validation, and common web vulnerabilities.

• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, particularly in resolving production issues.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and participating in related ceremonies.

• Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, and technical problem-solving abilities.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated quality checks.

• Experience with Redis, caching strategies, queues, and background processing.

• Familiarity with Docker and containerized development environments.

• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures.

• Experience in ERP systems, accounting workflows, inventory management, or other intricate business domains.

• Familiarity with PHPStan and Laravel Pint.

• Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS.
