Senior Backend Engineer – LIVE Sports Data, Multi-Sport Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Develop and oversee the global LIVE Scores infrastructure for sports including football, basketball, Formula 1, cricket, golf, boxing, tennis, and more.

• Integrate Enetpulse's sports-data APIs into the system.

• Create a scalable, provider-agnostic backend that supports hundreds of competitions globally.

• Design the architecture to facilitate the partial or complete substitution of Enetpulse with alternative data providers.

• Implement sports-data APIs for live events, results, standings, rankings, fixtures, and statistics.

• Create adaptable data models tailored for team sports, motorsports, individual competitions, and combat sports.

• Build systems for real-time data processing, synchronization, caching, and monitoring.

• Develop APIs that enable unique frontend experiences tailored to each sport.

• Ensure data accuracy, reliability, scalability, and smooth provider transitions.

• Connect sports information with OleOle’s existing microblogging platform without disrupting its 4U recommendation system.

• Architect, implement, test, and maintain production backend systems independently.

• Collaborate with frontend, design, frontend engineering, and UX/UI teams.

• Take full responsibility for the LIVE Scores backend.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in professional backend engineering.

• Strong expertise in backend development using Node.js, Python, Go, Java, or similar technologies.

• Demonstrated experience integrating complex third-party APIs and external data providers.

• Experience in designing scalable, real-time data processing systems.

• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, database optimization, and caching strategies.

• Familiarity with WebSockets, message queues, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems.

• Ability to design flexible, provider-independent data models and API architectures.

• Experience managing high-volume data synchronization, error recovery, and fault tolerance.

• Strong understanding of REST APIs, data normalization, and microservices.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

• Capability to independently architect, implement, test, and maintain production backend systems.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and collaboration skills with frontend engineers and UX/UI designers.

• Experience with sports-data providers such as Enetpulse, Sportradar, SportsDataIO, or similar services is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with LIVE Scores, sports statistics, rankings, standings, or sports betting data is a significant advantage.

• Ability to comprehend and model fundamentally different sporting structures across team and individual sports.

• Understanding of football and international sports is a major plus.
