This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Draft intricate technical legal documents, such as indictments, warrants, motions, orders, subpoenas, plea agreements, and legal memoranda.

• Examine incoming case documents and materials.

• Gather information from criminal case files, law enforcement agencies, and additional sources for legal documents.

• Ensure that recurring legal documents adhere to local court regulations and required styles and formats.

• Support attorneys with trial preparations, including the creation of trial and witness notebooks, exhibits, jury instructions, and witness and exhibit lists.

• Collaborate with victim/witness specialists and inform relevant staff of any victim/witness concerns.

• Verify legal citations and statutory references utilizing Westlaw and/or Lexis/Nexis.

• Conduct research, proofread, edit, and revise legal briefs.

• File legal documents electronically with the U.S. District Court using CM/ECF.

• Create tables of contents and indices and compile cited authorities.

• Write legal correspondence and send proposed orders to the court.

• Request extensions, provide updates on case developments, and inform defense counsel of any issues.

• Oversee electronic discovery databases, including scanning, linking, uploading, and downloading case materials.

• Manage discovery processing and production; bates-stamp and redact materials using Adobe Acrobat and potentially IPRO Eclipse.

• Dispatch ongoing discovery to defense counsel as directed by the assigned AUSA.

• Maintain electronic case files, input case-management data, schedule deadlines in MS Outlook, and prepare case-opening/conflict forms.


⛳️ Requirements

• A paralegal certificate, JD, or enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed is required.

• A minimum of two years of experience as a litigation paralegal is necessary; trial experience is advantageous.

• At least one year of experience in automated litigation support is required.

• Solid understanding of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and resources.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Comprehensive knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.

• Proficient with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.

• Familiarity with ESI tools and a solid understanding of eDiscovery procedures and resources.

• Ability to consistently produce high-quality work under significant pressure.
