Senior Packaging Engineer

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Standardize packaging formats, materials, and equipment across various regions while ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer-specific requirements.

β€’ Collaborate with Procurement, Operations, Engineering, Regulatory, Quality, and EHS to develop sustainable, reliable, and cost-effective packaging solutions.

β€’ Spearhead packaging initiatives and oversee documentation in alignment with the objectives of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.

β€’ Manage packaging and packaging waste compliance programs pertaining to country-specific Extended Producer Responsibility regulations.

β€’ Implement installation and retrofitting of packaging equipment.

β€’ Formulate global technical specifications and standards.

β€’ Facilitate competitive bidding and ensure consistent supplier quality in partnership with Procurement.

β€’ Oversee packaging-related capital projects from concept through design, testing, commissioning, and startup in collaboration with Engineering.

β€’ Travel approximately 30% of the time.

β€’ Drive organizational objectives through initiative, goal execution, performance, and safety.

β€’ Foster collaborative relationships, optimize diverse talent, and utilize positive communication and influence to enhance organizational capabilities.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Bachelor's degree or equivalent in mechanical, industrial, or packaging engineering.

β€’ A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in industrial or chemical packaging.

β€’ Experience in regulated manufacturing environments.

β€’ Proficient understanding of European packaging sustainability and regulatory frameworks.

β€’ Experience in sourcing packaging materials and managing suppliers.

β€’ Background in packaging testing, validation, and change management.

β€’ Proven ability in executing capital projects.

β€’ Proficient in Excel and data analysis.

β€’ Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

β€’ Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior.

β€’ Capability to comprehend the business, make complex decisions, and create innovative value.

β€’ Fluent in English.

β€’ Preferred: experience in pharmaceutical, food, or personal care sectors.

β€’ Preferred: familiarity with U.S.-based projects and suppliers.

β€’ Preferred: experience managing vendors who submit regulatory reports.

β€’ Preferred: support for sustainability programs, material selection, packaging footprint reduction, and documentation for regulatory and customer audits.

β€’ Self-starter qualities and extensive professional experience required.
