This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania, +1 more country.
β’ Design, implement, and manage private and sovereign cloud platforms for enterprise clients located in Western Europe.
β’ Take ownership of platform architecture encompassing control plane, compute, storage, and network, ensuring high availability and appropriate resource sizing.
β’ Create High Level Design, Low Level Design, as-built documentation, and operational runbooks.
β’ Deploy and upgrade the platform using Kolla-Ansible, while maintaining configuration as code in Git.
β’ Integrate storage, networking, identity, and load balancing with Cinder, OVN and Open vSwitch, Keystone with OIDC federation, Octavia, and Barbican.
β’ Establish metrics and logging, and connect the platform with the clientβs ServiceNow CMDB.
β’ Conduct technical workshops, design reviews, and acceptance testing with client representatives.
β’ Serve as a third-line escalation point for managed platforms and lead root cause analysis efforts.
β’ Assist in pre-sales activities as a technical expert and provide technical direction to team engineers.
β’ Minimum of 6 years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization, or cloud platforms, including at least 3 years working with OpenStack in a production environment.
β’ Proven experience in designing OpenStack architecture, having completed at least one full implementation from design to production handover.
β’ Strong proficiency in Nova, Neutron, Keystone, Glance, Cinder, Placement, Horizon, Octavia, and Barbican.
β’ Experience in deploying and upgrading with Kolla-Ansible, including playbook customization and managing containerized service lifecycles.
β’ Advanced knowledge of Linux administration, KVM and libvirt virtualization, as well as container runtimes like Docker.
β’ Troubleshooting skills with MariaDB or Galera, RabbitMQ, HAProxy, Keepalived, Redis, and Memcached.
β’ Solid understanding of cloud networking, including OVN and Open vSwitch, GENEVE or VXLAN overlays, VLAN provider networks, NAT, and floating IP addresses.
β’ Proficiency in English at a C1 level, adequate for independently conducting technical workshops and design reviews with client architects.
β’ Experience with VMware exit and migration programs towards OpenStack, including migration tools and wave planning.
β’ Integration of enterprise storage through Cinder drivers, such as NetApp ONTAP over NFS or Ceph.
β’ Experience with telco workloads on OpenStack: SR-IOV, DPDK, CPU pinning, huge pages, and NUMA-aware scheduling.
β’ Familiarity with Terraform or OpenTofu, Kubernetes on OpenStack, and GPU-enabled compute nodes.
β’ Knowledge of ServiceNow, particularly ITOM Discovery and the CMDB model, or experience in an ITIL-based service framework.
β’ Understanding of sovereign cloud regulatory requirements in the public sector and financial services.
