Senior Protection & Control Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +9 more states.

📋 Description

• Design protection and control systems for substations in accordance with relevant codes and client specifications.

• Create designs for protective relaying and control systems intended for transmission and distribution substations.

• Develop relay protection strategies, establish criteria for relay settings, formulate control philosophies, and execute engineering calculations.

• Generate specifications for equipment and materials, outline design scopes, and prepare cost estimates.

• Complete initial protection and control designs along with layouts for both new and existing substation facilities.

• Draft documentation to support procurement, construction, commissioning, as well as system operation and maintenance.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.

• Lead and engage in meetings with clients and conduct site visits.

• Ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures, which includes technical review and approval of engineering design packages.

• Guide and provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and designers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.

• 7-10 years of professional experience in Substation Protection & Control design engineering.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• Exceptional document management and organizational skills.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality work.

• Capability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines concurrently.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Ability to function effectively in a team environment and engage professionally with clients and stakeholders.
