Lead Protection & Control Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +9 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop protection and control systems for substations in accordance with relevant codes and client specifications.

• Create one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, logic diagrams, functional diagrams, panel layouts, wiring and connection diagrams, interconnection diagrams, communication systems, bills of materials, and SCADA systems.

• Design protective relaying and control systems for both transmission and distribution substations.

• Formulate relay protection strategies, relay settings criteria, control philosophies, and engineering calculations.

• Generate equipment and material specifications, design scopes, and cost assessments.

• Finalize conceptual designs and layouts for protection and control systems in both new and existing substation facilities.

• Produce documentation to support procurement, construction, commissioning, and operation/maintenance activities.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.

• Facilitate client meetings and site visits to gather design information, present solutions, address technical challenges, and aid in project execution.

• Ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures, including technical evaluation and approval of engineering design packages.

• Guide and mentor junior engineers and designers by reviewing their calculations, drawings, and specifications.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

• Over 10 years of experience in substation protection and control design engineering.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• Exceptional document management and organizational skills.

• Keen attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.

• Capable of managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines concurrently.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Effective team player who can interact professionally with clients and stakeholders.
