This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania, +1 more country.
• Design, implement, and manage private and sovereign cloud platforms for enterprise clients in Western Europe.
• Take ownership of platform architecture encompassing control plane, compute, storage, and networking, ensuring high availability and appropriate resource allocation.
• Create High Level Design, Low Level Design, as-built documentation, and operational runbooks.
• Deploy and upgrade platforms utilizing Kolla-Ansible, maintaining configuration as code via Git.
• Integrate storage, networking, identity, and load balancing using Cinder, OVN, Open vSwitch, Keystone with OIDC federation, Octavia, and Barbican.
• Establish metrics and logging, and connect the platform with the client ServiceNow CMDB.
• Conduct technical workshops, design reviews, and acceptance testing in collaboration with client representatives.
• Serve as a third-line escalation point for managed platforms, leading root cause analysis efforts.
• Provide technical expertise during pre-sales and offer guidance to team engineers.
• Collaborate directly with client architects as part of an internal OpenStack team.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization, or cloud platforms, including 3 years working with OpenStack in production environments.
• Proven experience in designing OpenStack architecture, with at least one complete implementation from design through to production handover.
• Strong expertise in Nova, Neutron, Keystone, Glance, Cinder, Placement, Horizon, Octavia, and Barbican.
• Experience in deploying and upgrading with Kolla-Ansible, including playbook customization and lifecycle management of containerized services.
• Advanced Linux administration skills, along with knowledge of KVM and libvirt virtualization, and container runtimes like Docker.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting across MariaDB or Galera, RabbitMQ, HAProxy, Keepalived, Redis, and Memcached.
• Solid background in cloud networking, including OVN and Open vSwitch, GENEVE or VXLAN overlays, VLAN provider networks, NAT, and floating IP addresses.
• Proficient in English at a C1 level, able to independently conduct technical workshops and design reviews with client architects.
• Experience with VMware exit and migration programs to OpenStack, including migration tools and wave planning.
• Knowledge of enterprise storage integration through Cinder drivers, such as NetApp ONTAP over NFS or Ceph.
• Familiarity with Telco workloads on OpenStack, including SR-IOV, DPDK, CPU pinning, huge pages, and NUMA-aware scheduling.
• Experience with Terraform or OpenTofu, Kubernetes on OpenStack, and GPU-enabled compute nodes.
• Understanding of ServiceNow, especially ITOM Discovery and the CMDB model, or experience in an ITIL-based service model.
• Awareness of sovereign cloud regulatory requirements in the public sector and financial services.
