This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Assist nonprofit clients in navigating the onboarding process.
• Analyze financial records to ensure accurate transaction recording.
• Deliver comprehensive accounting support across various client accounts, encompassing accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
• Create month-end closing workbooks, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly financial statements.
• Evaluate income statement and balance sheet activities for reasonableness, coding precision, classification, and completeness.
• Investigate irregularities, pinpoint discrepancies, and formulate journal entries to rectify financial inaccuracies.
• Implement nonprofit revenue recognition guidelines, including exchange transactions, contributions, and donor restrictions.
• Review investment statements and generate investment roll forwards.
• Support grant management and reporting obligations.
• Develop audit schedules, supply supporting documentation, and coordinate deliverables during audits, including single audits.
• Aid in the preparation of Form 990 and other local, state, and federal filings.
• Conduct specialized reporting to facilitate client decision-making.
• Contribute to financial analysis, cash flow forecasting, and budget preparation under the supervision of a Controller.
• Adhere to client deadlines and submit work for compliance and quality control promptly.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least five years of general accounting experience.
• Proven experience in audit preparation.
• Capacity to work professionally and independently from home.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial statement preparation.
• Ability to navigate detailed account activity, discern inconsistencies, and resolve issues with comprehensive documentation.
• Comfort in adhering to established processes, compliance expectations, and quality control standards.
• Skill in managing multiple client deadlines while ensuring accuracy and follow-through.
• Effective written communication for schedules, reconciliations, reporting, and audit support.
• Ability to work autonomously in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, QuickBooks Online, and BILL.
• Capability to gain proficiency with Sage Intacct and other third-party applications.
• CPA license is preferred.
• Experience in public or outsourced accounting is preferred.
• Nonprofit accounting experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with nonprofit accounting practices is preferred.
