This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Collaborate with component qualification engineers and professionals from diverse engineering disciplines.
β’ Mentor and guide the efforts of junior project team members.
β’ Engage in projects for the establishment of new nuclear facilities as well as upgrades and modifications to existing nuclear power plants.
β’ Prepare and evaluate design calculations.
β’ Review qualification reports from vendors related to testing and analysis.
β’ Create and develop specifications.
β’ Update client design basis documentation.
β’ Assist designers in the development of drawings.
β’ Conduct structural analysis and design for steel panels, cabinets, connections, equipment foundation loads, and supports, taking into account seismic effects.
β’ Carry out design and analysis of primary containment penetrations, including considerations for fatigue effects.
β’ Execute seismic qualification activities, which include reviewing seismic test reports and preparing as well as reviewing seismic loading analyses.
β’ Perform environmental qualification life assessments utilizing the Arrhenius method.
β’ Revise and update qualification documentation.
β’ Potentially travel to client and vendor locations for design reviews and to construction sites for coordination and field verification.
β’ Bachelor of Science (BS) in engineering, focusing on Structural or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
β’ A minimum of seven years of experience related to component qualification activities within the nuclear power plant sector.
β’ Expertise in structural mechanics analysis using Mathcad.
β’ Knowledge of AISC, AISI, ASCE, ANSI, and ASTM design codes and standards.
β’ Understanding of Regulatory Guides, IEEE Standards, and EPRI Documents pertinent to seismic and environmental qualification.
β’ Experience in completing ASME Section III design reports and/or design specifications.
β’ Proficiency in MS Office applications.
β’ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Authorization to work in the U.S.; the employer does not sponsor work authorization for employees.
β’ MSCE degree is preferred but not mandatory.
β’ Experience with finite element analysis tools such as SAP2000, ANSYS, STAAD, and/or STRUDL is advantageous but not essential.
β’ Possession of a PE license is a plus but not required.
β’ Willingness or capability to lead others in utilizing automation and AI tools.
β’ Ability to supervise engineers in programming or scripting with Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is valued but not required.
