Senior Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead and mentor a team comprising 4–6 Senior Network Engineers.

• Facilitate daily scrum meetings to ensure the team remains aligned on priorities and tasks.

• Oversee escalations, ensuring prompt resolution of incidents and major incidents.

• Evaluate and address network-related incidents while minimizing operational disruptions.

• Conduct thorough root cause analyses and implement preventive strategies.

• Serve as the escalation point for high-priority or complex incidents.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive resolutions and communicate updates to stakeholders.

• Work with management to assess team performance.

• Provide contributions for performance evaluations.

• Assist in establishing professional development objectives.


⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to lead and support technical teams while effectively delegating tasks.

• Experience in managing escalations and driving resolutions during critical incidents.

• Strong organizational abilities to coordinate team schedules, on-call rotations, and workload management.

• Proficient in Cisco and Nexus switches, VLANs, trunking, spanning tree, and Layer 3 routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).

• Hands-on expertise with Palo Alto and Check Point firewalls, including policy configuration, troubleshooting, high availability, and optimization.

• Familiarity with Meraki networks and cloud-based management solutions.

• Proficient in both physical and virtual F5 load balancers, including configuration and troubleshooting.

• Knowledgeable in SolarWinds and other network monitoring tools.

• Experience in automation scripting using Python, Ansible, or similar technologies.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

• Minimum of 8–12 years of experience in network engineering roles.

• At least 2–3 years in a leadership or team lead position.

• Proven success in managing escalations, incident management, and team operations.

• Experience with firmware updates, patch management, and hardware lifecycle management.

• Preferred certifications include CCNP or higher, PCNSE, CCSE, F5 Certified Administrator, or similar, along with ITIL or related certifications.
