This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Oversee the performance and availability of Abacus datacentre networks throughout the US and UK.
• Engage in network enhancement initiatives.
• Ensure high availability and optimal performance of datacentre services.
• Serve as an escalation point for support incidents impacting multiple clients.
• Act as the technical lead for both internal and client projects, including network builds for clients.
• Identify and resolve complex issues while proactively seeking improvement opportunities.
• Support and manage the network backbone infrastructure across various datacenters and regions using OSPF, BGP, DIA, PTP, VPN, multi-gig connectivity, and cross-connects.
• Lead medium-sized client projects involving equipment deployment, network design, or refresh activities.
• Provide escalation support for client offices, Abacus datacenters, Azure and AWS public cloud networks, as well as remote access systems like VPN and Citrix.
• Maintain and troubleshoot NGFW firewall configurations in datacenter and client environments.
• Collaborate directly with high-profile clients to deliver effective solutions and resolve issues efficiently.
• Work alongside internal Abacus teams to offer solutions and escalation support.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for Abacus and client infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
• Keep abreast of technology trends and suggest solutions to enhance performance, security, and efficiency.
• Offer guidance and mentorship to team members.
• Extensive experience in deploying and managing Juniper hardware, including SRX and EX platforms.
• Significant experience in deploying and managing Cisco hardware, including ISR, ASR, Nexus, and Catalyst platforms.
• Strong background in supporting NGFW solutions from Palo Alto, FortiNet, and Cisco.
• Comprehensive understanding of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking principles.
• Exceptional LAN/WAN fault diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
• In-depth knowledge of Spanning Tree, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, BGP, OSPF, VPN, IPSEC, QoS, NATs, and ACLs.
• Experience managing datacentre networks, ideally in a multi-tenant MSP setting.
• Proficiency in office network design, implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience leading client engagements effectively.
• Expertise in managing technical projects from inception to completion, including requirements gathering, planning, execution, and post-implementation review.
• Familiarity with network monitoring platforms.
• Solid understanding of virtualization and network integration with VMware infrastructure.
• Preferred experience maintaining network solutions based on Azure's platform.
• Strong documentation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn new technologies and keep up with industry knowledge.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Over 8 years of networking experience.
• CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent certification is preferred.
• A bachelor's degree is a plus.
• Experience in an MSP environment is a plus.
• Flexibility for after-hours and weekend work is required.
• Capability to participate in an on-call rotation.
• Availability to work the 8/8:30am–5/5:30pm shift.
